Privacy Policy
Producing Unscripted collects information to run this site and provide the services you choose to use. This policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you.
Information you give us
- Newsletter signup. If you sign up for our free newsletter and email course, we collect your email address and any name you provide. The signup service records confirmation and subscription status. For a new subscription, the course starts after you confirm your email address. If you rejoin, an unfinished course continues where you left off; a completed course does not restart.
- Consulting waitlist. When you join the consulting waitlist, we collect your email address and any name you provide so we can tell you when appointments are available. Joining the waitlist does not add you to our newsletter or course unless you choose that separately. It does not book or pay for a session.
- Contact form. When you use our Contact form, we collect your first and last name, email address, selected topic, and message to handle and respond to your request. Please do not send pitches, confidential material, identification, home addresses, or sensitive details through it.
- Show submissions. When you submit a show project, we collect your name, email address, phone number, city, state or province, postal code, and country, along with your project title, description, links, prior pitch history, project role, and relevant producer experience or on-camera biography. We keep your agreement acknowledgment and submission record for review. Please submit only material you have the right to share. The separate submission agreement governs the creative submission itself.
Information used to run the site
When you visit or use a form, site hosting and security services may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, access time, and signals used to detect abuse or troubleshoot errors. A security check is used on forms. These services may use cookies or similar browser technology as part of providing the site and protecting forms.
The podcast player saves your most recently selected episode and playback position in your browser’s local storage so you can resume listening. The Quiz Show saves progress in local storage only if you choose its Remember option. Saved quiz progress expires 90 days after the last save and is removed when you next open the quiz. You can clear saved quiz progress on the quiz page or clear local storage in your browser settings.
Fonts and some audio or video may load from outside providers. When their content loads or plays, those providers may receive technical information from your browser. Their privacy notices apply to their own services.
How we use and share information
We use information to manage newsletter and course subscriptions and preferences, respond to contact messages, manage the consulting waitlist, review show submissions, protect the site, troubleshoot problems, and maintain related records. Sending a contact message or joining the consulting waitlist does not, by itself, subscribe you to our newsletter or course.
We share information as needed with providers that host and protect the site, handle forms and email, or deliver fonts and media. Show submissions are reviewed by our production team and may also be reviewed by professional representatives involved in considering the project. We may also disclose information when legally required or to protect our rights and the safety of the site and its users.
How long we keep information
We aim to keep information only as long as reasonably needed for its purpose, to honor choices, or to meet an applicable obligation. We aim to delete ordinary contact messages about 12 months after we finish handling them and show submissions and related agreement records about five years after final disposition or our last substantive contact about the project, whichever is later. We keep active subscription details while you are subscribed and preserve the minimum information needed to honor an unsubscribe afterward. We aim to remove an unused consulting waitlist entry about 12 months after its last activity.
These are best-effort targets, not guaranteed deadlines. Open requests, submissions, disputes, security incidents, and legal obligations may require longer retention. Backup copies may retain information after an active record is removed.
Your choices and requests
The newsletter service records subscription and unsubscribe status. You can unsubscribe using the link in our emails. We may keep the minimum information needed to honor an unsubscribe or another valid retention need. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information, use our Contact form.
You can use the quiz without saving progress and can clear browser storage in your browser settings. Outside media services may offer their own controls.
Changes and contact
We will post material changes to this policy here with a revised effective date.
